One-day training activity on "Indexation of Journals in Scopus"

The Directorate of ORIC, in collaboration with the Pakistan Scientific and Technological Centre, Islamabad (PASTIC), organized a one-day training activity on “Development of National Digital Archive of Research Published in Pakistani Journals” & "Indexation of Journals in Scopus" at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. The event was held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, BJC Campus, IUB and was presided over by the Worthy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar. The nominated members from the editorial teams of the IUB research journals participated in the training session.

In the welcome note, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, Director ORIC, welcomes all the participants followed by the briefing about the University Intellectual Property & Revenue Distribution Model approved by the University Syndicate. He unfurls the ORIC initiative regarding the IUB Research Journal Subscription Model which is harmonious not only for the University but for the University affiliated colleges as well. Subsequently, he inaugurated the IUB Research Journal Subscription Model by logging in to the IUB E-portal and submitting a demo application online.

The Co-Host Dr. Saif Ullah Azeem, the Project Director at PASTIC, delivered an enlightening lecture on the National Digital Archive of Research Published in Pakistani Journals Project Awareness and Consortium. The guest speaker Dr. Muhammad Marwat, Director, Peshawar Institute of Research, minted the house by providing an insightful introduction to Scopus, pre-evaluation criteria for Scopus submissions, and integration of on-site requirements of Scopus to Open Journal Systems (OJS).

Worthy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Naveed Akthar, culminated the event by appreciating the efforts made by the ORIC-IUB and thanked the Co-Host for supporting this instrumental training. He pays a myriad gratitude to the guest speaker for his valuable time and knowledge sharing. He encapsulated his views by expressing his exhilaration toward young blood inducted in the ORIC and appreciated on-screen and unsung heroes of the organizing team. He further anticipated that such capacity-building trainings would be orchestrated in the time ahead.
