A special Steering Committee meeting was organized by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) to strengthen industry–academia linkages for the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment and the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
During the meeting, participants held detailed discussions on collaborative opportunities between academia and industry, research utilization, and the commercialization of research outcomes.
Key topics included nitrogen fixation, phosphorus fixation, low-cost biofertilizers, micronutrients for plants and animals, media enrichment, soil sciences, soil testing laboratories, and the commercialization of research and innovative technologies.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmad, Chairman of the Department of Soil Sciences, shared valuable insights on soil fertility improvement, soil testing, nitrogen and phosphorus fixation, and sustainable agricultural practices. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaborative research opportunities with industry partners.
Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saeed, Director of the Business Incubation Center (BIC), discussed the significance of research commercialization, industrial partnerships, and translating innovative ideas into practical applications.
Mr. Muhammad Rashid from BUH Manchar Agro and Dr. Ataullah Khan, Project Head at Pantera Farms, also shared valuable perspectives on innovative agricultural solutions, industrial collaboration, modern farming approaches, and the practical implementation of research outcomes.
The meeting was further enriched by the participation of Mr. Qazi M. Zahid Saeed (Manager, IDC Bahawalpur), Mr. Nasir Shabir (Senior Operations Officer, IDC Bahawalpur), Dr. Naeem Aamir (Manager Research Management, ORIC), Dr. Umair Riaz (Manager, Business Incubation Center), Dr. Muhammad Sajad (Manager Commercialization, ORIC), Mr. Tahir Habib (Assistant Registrar, ORIC), Mr. Sharafat Ali (Jadeed Feeds), Mr. Waseem Ahmad (Comega Life), and Dr. Muhammad Shahazad (DAEE, IUB).
The participants collectively reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening university–industry linkages to promote research, innovation, technology transfer, and sustainable development, ultimately contributing to national agricultural growth and food security.
