Two-Day Goat Fair Expo 2026

 

Goat Fair Expo 2026 Successfully Organized at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur: The Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (FVAS) at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur successfully organized the two-day Goat Fair Expo 2026 on 12th and 13th February 2026 at the faculty premises. The event was sponsored by ORIC, IUB reflecting its commitment to promoting Livestock innovation and farmer engagement.

The Expo witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 50 farmers attending and approximately 80 high-quality goats presented in both the Milking and Beauty Competitions.

Milking Competition

In the Milking Competition, 13 selected high-quality milking does participate in two sessions. The total of 13 farmers competed for top honors. The results were remarkable:

• 1st Place: Mr. Salman Baloch (Baloch Farm, Bahawalpur) – 2.962 kg milk

• 2nd Place: Mr. Muhammad Zahid (Zahid Paryar Goat Farm) – 2.666 kg milk

• 3rd Place: Mr. Bilal Paryar (Bilal Paryar Goat Farm) – 2.636 kg milk

The winners were presented with shields and certificates during the concluding ceremony.

Goat Beauty Competition

The Goat Beauty Competition attracted 25 farmers, with animals judged on breed standards, body structure, health condition, and overall presentation. To honor and encourage participants, 60 traditional pagris were distributed among the farmers.

Concluding Ceremony & Innovations

The Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Kamran The Islamia University of Bahawalpur graced the concluding ceremony as the Chief Guest. In a traditional gesture of respect, farmers presented a pagri to the Vice Chancellor.

During the Expo, Dr. Faisal Shahzad, Associate Professor in the Department of Livestock Management, showcased three innovative livestock management prototypes:

1. Manual Innovative Head Lock System – for safer, more efficient manual livestock handling.

2. Automatic Innovative Head Lock System – a modern automatic system to streamline goat handling and minimize stress.

3. Feeding Manger Prototype – an innovative solution to improve feeding efficiency and overall goat management.

The Vice Chancellor highly appreciated these innovations and commended Prof. Dr. M. Mansoor Khalid, Dean FVAS, and Dr. Faisal Shahzad for successfully conducting a farmer-focused Expo. In recognition of his dedication, Dr. Faisal Shahzad was presented with a Shield of Honor. The Vice Chancellor also shared his vision of establishing a commercial goat farm at the university to serve as a model for modern goat farming, research, and training for students and local farmers.

Closing Remarks

At the conclusion of the event, Dean Prof. Dr. M. Mansoor Khalid FV&AS,IUB expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participating farmers, the Vice Chancellor, Organizer and faculty members for their dedication in making the Goat Fair Expo 2026 a resounding success. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in:

• Promoting scientific livestock farming

• Enhancing practical learning opportunities for students

• Strengthening collaboration between the university and farming community
